New Jersey Wildcats Annouces Partnership with WWPSA
Team Training and Summer Camps are made available

March 2008

The New Jersey Wildcats are pleased to announce our partnership with West Windsor Plainsboro Soccer Association (WWPSA) which will combine one of New Jersey’s largest recreational and travel soccer programs with the semi-professional Wildcats women’s soccer team.  An alliance with one of the top women’s teams in North America enables WWPSA to create learning and training opportunities for all girls participating in its recreational and travel soccer programs, to develop interest in attending high quality soccer games, and to enhance the profile of the Club in the wider soccer community. The NJ Wildcats will participate directly in the development of girls youth soccer, developing potential future team players while creating a local fanbase at the same time. WWPSA will also offer practical support hosting some Wildcats practices and providing operational staff for Wildcats homegames. WWPSA and the Wildcats plan to work together to seek Corporate sponsorship for future development initiatives

Basis for Partnership
The close proximity of WWPSA to a leading women’s soccer team presented a tremendous opportunity to develop girls soccer in WWPSA. Several top international female players have played for the Wildcats within just a few miles of the Club providing the local community with a chance to attend games of the highest level. More importantly, young female players have the opportunity to expand their soccer development by playing and training with leading soccer athletes and coaches.

The Partnership
The WWPSA and NJ Wildcats will partner in the following key areas:

  • Player Development
  • Fanclub
  • Sunburst
  • Sponsorship

Player Development

a) Open Training Sessions (Mondays)
The NJ Wildcats will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays in May, June and July on WWPSA fields. All girls, parents, coaches and trainers from WWPSA will be invited to attend and watch these open practices.  Prior to the Monday sessions, the Wildcats will host open training sessions for all girls from WWPSA. These 90-minute sessions will be delivered by Wildcats players and coaches and will feature age-appropriate technical training "stations" with fun activities and skills challenges. There will also be a separate specialty Goalkeeper training session. Evenings will be designated as appropriate for recreational or travel players and will continue every Monday during the Wildcats season. All girls registered for any 2007-08 recreational or travel program will be eligible to participate and all sessions will be complimentary. Prior to the beginning of the season, there will be some introductory training sessions on Mondays in April.  Details will be posted at www.wwpsa.org.

b) Summer Camp of Champions (July 7-11, 2008)
WWPSA and the Wildcats are excited to announce that US National Team Captain Christie Pearce Rampone and Olympic Gold Medalist Shannon Boxx will participate in the 1st Annual WWPSA / New Jersey Wildcats Girls Camp in West Windsor, July 7-11, 2008. Christie and Shannon will be in camp on July 7th and 8th only a few weeks before they travel to Beijing China for the 2008 Olympic Games. In addition to soccer skills training, the camp will include individual Speed and Agility testing and an ACL injury prevention DVD from the G.O.A.L.S. (Girls Opting Against Ligament Surgery) Training Series. The camp will be led by Socrates Nicolaidis, the youngest Australian player ever to play in a National League game at the age of 16 and former Australian National Youth Team player

Coach Nicolaidis Re-Signs for Summer 2008 Season
Expecting even greater things this year!

February 2008

The New Jersey Wildcats president/owner Mr. Vince Baldino is pleased to annouce that Coach Socrates Nicolaidis has agreed to another season with the Wildcats.  After a very challenging, yet successful season the Wildcats management is very happy to have Coach Nicolaidis back.  Baldino says, "Socrates has a great reputation for developing the female soccer player, he has over sixty athletes that have and are currently playing at the collegiate level."

Coach Nicolaidis offers, "After a strong start to last season with a win over Jersey Sky Blue and a tie with Washington Freedom, the depth of our squad became evident as we finished out our season.   Our goal for this coming season is to acquire some of the most young, up and coming,  talented players from within the state that can bring energy, desire and a creative attacking style of play the Wildcats supporters are use to seeing."

"The league this year will be even stronger with the introduction of the revised women’s professional soccer league in 2009.  The Wildcats will be playing against three professional organization, Jersey Sky Blue, the Boston Breaker’s affiliate club Boston Renegades and Washisngton Freedom.  With the introduction of an exercise physiologist, Todd Brown, to our team this year, it will give our less experienced players the opportunity to physically compete with some of the best players in the country. Todd’s goal will be to monitor, test, re-test and provide a world class performance training and research department that will have all Wildcats players at a very high professional level of fitness."

"Off the field we are building strong relationships with clubs from the central and southern parts of the state.  Our club affiliate program will give us the opportunity to identify talent early on while providing them a path where they can achieve excellence and one day play for the senior Wildcats team."

Jones Receives All-Conference Honors
July 29, 2007

Princeton, NJ - The W-League announced its All-Conference Teams this weekend, giving the New Jersey Wildcats goalkeeper Robyn Jones a spot on the All-Eastern Conference Team.

The complete list includes 33 standout players in the 2007 season representing 20 different clubs, who were identified and voted on by team coaches and general managers.

Robyn Jones had a fantastic season for the New Jersey Wildcats making 60 enormous saves that kept her team in the game.

Never missing a match or a moment, she tallied 1160 minutes which is more than any of her fellow teammates received.

Her 2007 season statistics:
G: 13  GKM: 1160   GA:14    GAA: 1.086     GKW: 5    GKL: 5    GKT: 4    SO: 3    SAVES: 56    SHFC: 127

"I was really shocked," said Jones. "It really is an honor to be voted for by other coaches in the conference, this is one of my proudest accomplishments to date. I really enjoyed my summer with the Wildcats because it reminded me that soccer can be very competitive while still being a lot of fun."

The Wildcats are grateful to have such a dominating presence in goal especially one who is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her opponents’ shots from hitting the back netting.

Jones looks back on this season with fond memories: "I was happy to be able to play every game and be available for my team and coaches. The girls were great to be around and the coaches did a wonderful job too. When you have a great team around you, it makes you play better."

The team looks forward to having her play for the squad throughout the 2008 season.
