New Jersey (Tuesday, January 16, 2012) - The New Jersey Wildcats announced today that FDU four-year letter winner and current Coach Operations Manager for the New York Red Bulls will rejoin the Wildcats for the 2012 season.
As a freshman at FDU, she was the only first-year player to start all 18 games, picking up Brine Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors along the way. In her senior season, she shifted up front after playing three seasons on the back line and the midfield, en route to another Brine NEC Player of the Week distinction. In her senior season, she paced the squad with a team-best eight goals (17 points), receiving First Team All-Conference acclaim. Upon graduation from FDU, she became Full-Time Assistant Coach for the Lady Knights for five seasons. Currently, she is the Coach Operations Manager for the New York Red Bulls Training Programs and holds her Advanced National Coaching Certification.
Ferrell’s 45 points and 19 goals rank second all-time for FDU, while she remains in the top 10 of six offensive categories. A two-goal performance versus Quinnipiac in 2005 landed her in a tie for most goals in a game, also propelling her into a tie for most game-winning goals in a career with five.
“She will be very important to our team on and off the field. Her leadership abilities will take our team to the next level, and we are pleased to have her with us again in 2012 as we begin our push for the W-League Championship," Wildcats head coach Kevin McDermott commented.
