Bound Brook, N.J. (April 18, 2018) - PSA and NJ Wildcats are excited to announce the official merger of PSA Central and NJ Wildcats to create PSA Wildcats for the 2018/19 season.
NJ Wildcats, based in Monmouth County, has a longstanding tradition of developing players and teams that are recognized on State, Regional and National levels. Many former NJ Wildcats players can be seen playing in top colleges around the country and in the professional National Women’s Soccer League.
Combining the programs from PSA Central and NJ Wildcats full-time further enhances the club and builds upon the significantly talented teams already playing between them. The PSA Wildcats will now become another regional powerhouse club after last week's announcement of PSA SDFC in Northern NJ and PSA Princeton in Mercer County for the 2018/19 season.
PSA Wildcats will utilize the resources of both clubs in the Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean Counties of NJ with the directors, coaches and facilities of both programs coming together in order to provide the best service for our players. The merging of the two programs will see teams created at each age group for boys and girls U8 through U19. All teams will be highly competitive with elite level league play, tournaments and state cups.
All players within the PSA Wildcats program will also be eligible to become a part of the PSA National program. PSA and NJ Wildcats successfully trialed this program with a number of boys and girls teams this year, with U14 '04 boys winning at NJYS National Championship Series State Cup and the U12 '06 Girls as finalists. Currently, there are seven teams playing in the Eastern Regional League and one in the USYS National League. The PSA National program will bring together the best players from PSA Princeton, PSA Wildcats and PSA SDFC to train together, offering more ambitious players an exceptional pathway to playing in college and beyond. The PSA National team is supplementary to the regional teams, where players will have the opportunity to compete in the USYS Eastern Regional League (ERL), USYS National League (for qualifying teams), NJYS National Championship Series state cup and two national level tournaments.
"I could not be more excited with the official merger of NJ Wildcats with PSA. It has always been our goal to be the strongest club we can be and have the best development program for dedicated players to come and be able to reach their full potential. With this mega merger of NJ Wildcats, PSA and SDFC, we are well on our way to achieving these goals!" said Kevin McDermott, NJ Wildcats President.
PSA Central Director, Massimo Cedraschi, commented, "I am thrilled to move forward with our venture that will enable us to continue developing players and teams to be the best in our area. The coming together of our very successful clubs will significantly benefit our National program, providing a platform for the best players to reach the highest level of the game."
