Wildcats face #2 in the World
Defending champions come to Robbinsville on Saturday July 5th
Princeton, NJ - The Wildcats look to get back in the win column on Saturday, July 5th at Robbinsville High School 5 PM. Wildcats currently in sixth in the, very difficult, Northeast division of the W-League face the Washington Freedom the day after Independence Day. The Wildcats (2-7-1) frustrated and angry with their record need to bring a top class performance on Saturday when facing the #2 ranked women’s football team on earth (rankings provided by womensworldfootball.com). The Wildcats, lead by Eastern Conference GK of the Year, Robin Jones and veteran fullbacks Lissette Brandao and Amanda Wheeler will need an impeccable defensive effort. The Wildcats plagued by bad bounces, bad calls, and ugly defensive errors will still play their passionate, attacking brand of football lead by their Aussie head coach Socrates Nicolaidis. The Freedom led by former Wildcat and US National team member Christie Welsh currently sit in second place, 5 points behind the Boston Renegades. The Freedom do have have two games in hand on the division leaders. The Freedom, odds on favorite to win a second consecutive W-League title, have a squad filed with talent and experience. Jim Gabarra, Freedom head coach, has only lost one game this year and look to keep their winning ways against the ’Cats.

June 7, 2008

Princeton, NJ---   The New Jersey Wildcats travel to the Maryland Soccerplex in Germantown, Maryland on Sunday for a divisional match up against the USL W-League defending Champions, Washington Freedom. The Wildcats boast a record of 2-0-1 with wins against the New York Magic and Fredricksbury Lady Gunners. Wildcats’ lone tie came against the Northern Virginia Majestics last Sunday in a well played 2-2 match. Leading the Wildcats point scoring is Maryland Terrapin Aimee Bresani with three goals and three assists in three games. Leading the New Jersey defense is Eastern Conference Goalkeeper of the year Robin Jones who has 4 goals against in 3 starts. Wildcats’ Head Coach Socrates Nicolaidis is impressed with the Wildcats goal scoring thus far (10 goals in 3 games) but would like to see the overall team defense to improve.

The Wildcats take on the 2-1 Freedom who boast one the W-Leauge’s most impressive organizations. Lead by Head Coach Jim Gabarra the Freedom are the ’team to beat’ in the Northeast division. Washington has a squad with no weaknesses starting with All-American Goalkeeper Katie Jo-Spisak, who has already posted 2 shutouts in 3 games. Lori Lindsey and former Wildcat, Rebecca Moros, lead a Freedom midfeild which is a true pleasure to watch. Ball possesion and grace are clear when watching the Freedom. Another former Wildcat and US natioanl team member Chrsitie Welsh lead their attack.

This will certainly be the Wildcats toughest test of the season.
