Wildcats Roll Past Banshees
WEST WINDSOR, NJ - Kelly Smith broke the ice
just 11 seconds into the game and the New Jersey Wildcats added eight
more goals in rolling to a 9-0 victory over the South Jersey Banshees
yesterday at Mercer County Community College. Smith finished with
three goals as the Wildcats improved to 5-0 for the season.
Marinette Pichon - making her home debut - stole the
ball off the Banshees kickoff and carried the ball up the field before
slipping a pass through for Smith, who first-timed a shot past
charging Banshees keeper Megan Ramey for a 1-0 lead 11 seconds in.
Smith's goal was the fastest goal ever in club history. New Jersey
also set a record for most consecutive wins with their fifth straight
win.
Pichon added two goals for the Wildcats while Kate
Sands, Anne Makinen, and Manya Makoski posted a goal and an assist.
Kim Francis contributed two assists while Becky Wachsberger and Alissa
Kacar split the shutout in goal. With the shutout, the Wildcats have
held the opposition scoreless for 367 straight minutes.

New Jersey outshot the Banshees by a 38-2 margin and
Ramey posted 15 saves for South Jersey before leaving the game in the
70th minute. Dolores Deasley scored the other goal for the Wildcats,
who connected six times in the first half.
The Wildcats face the Banshees again on Friday when
they travel to Winslow High School for a 5:30 p.m. matchup.
